    Biography

    CPT Dowd graduated from Manhattan College in 2009, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. He commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Signal Corps in February 2010 through Officer Candidate School on Fort Benning, Georgia.

    Upon graduating the Signal Officer Basic Course in July 2010, he became a Platoon Leader with 57th Signal Company, 172nd Infantry Brigade, Grafenwoehr, Germany. In July 2011 he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM (OEF) 11-12 and served as Company Executive Officer

    January 2013 CPT Dowd transitioned to the 44th Expeditionary Signal Battalion and assumed duties as battalion S4.  CPT Dowd completed the Signal Captains Career Course in 2014 and was assigned as the battalion S6 for 2nd Battalion 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment.  His most recent assignment was Company Commander, Bravo Company 50th Signal Battalion (Expeditionary).   

    CPT Dowd's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Parachutist Badge and the German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency.
