Mr James McAndrews graduated from The Pennsylvania State University at Harrisburg with Bachelor's degrees in Public Policy and Criminal Justice. After completion of ROTC he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Ordnance Corps in 1995.
Mr McAndrews' first assignment was to Bravo Company 626th Forward Support Battalion, 3d Brigade 101st Airborne Division where he served as a Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer and Shop Officer. Subsequent assignments include; Company Commander, Bravo Company 782d Main Support Battalion, 82d Airborne Division, Battalion Executive Officer, 16th Ordnance Battalion, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Brigade S4, Battalion S3 and Battalion Executive Officer in 3d Brigade, 82d Airborne Division, Executive Officer, Lima Team, Joint Readiness Training Center, Fort Polk, Louisiana. He has two deployments to Iraq with the 82d Airborne Division and one deployment to Afghanistan with the XVIII Airborne Corps. Mr McAndrews completed his career, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2018 while serving as the Senior Army Advisor to the Delaware Army National Guard. He currently resides in Quarryville, Pennsylvania with his wife Becky and his daughter Aoife.
Mr McAndrews' military education includes, Infantry Military Occupational Specialty 11H, The Primary Leadership Development Course, The Ordnance Officer Basic Course, Combined Logistics Captains Career Course, Combined Armed Services Staff School, Command and General's Staff College, Airborne School, Jumpmaster School, Air Assault School, Rappel Master School.
Mr McAndrews' awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star (2 awards), The Defense Meritorious Service Medal, The Meritorious Service Medal (6 awards), The Army Commendation Medal, The Army Achievement Medal (3 awards), The Iraqi Campaign Medal and the Afghan Campaign Medal, the Combat Action Badge, The Master Parachutist Badge and the Air Assault Badge.
